When creating this pair of shoes for the Carmen exhibition at the Düsseldorf GDS Trade Show in 2007 (See post Shoes for Carmen), Sara Navarro must have envisioned her Carmen light and full of budding life. The upper of these medium-heeled shoes is worked entirely out of springy ribbon. Flower petals and leaves in vibrant magenta and green run all around the length of the shoe, concealing the stable dancing base. The relatively low height is balanced out by seemingly endless ankle laces (in magenta) with small green leaves at the tips. Just looking at them makes me giddy, imagine wearing them?
