Madrid’s Magnificent Three is the best way I can describe my favorite moments of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid. This Spring-Summer 2016 season quite a few collections took my breath away. That said, I also have a preference for the designers who work in collaboration with the shoe brands I feature. Here are three couturiers that are not only super talented but who also went with a Spanish shoe designer to complement their collections.
Titled “Tempo“, the designer’s SS 2016 collection was created in partnership with Paco Herrero, a regular favorite here at the Spanishoegallery Blog. But first, check out these amazing red and gold appliqués:
The classical music language was the inspiration for this collection that fascinates with its elaborate gold appliqués and pure colors. In the background, a classical music group was setting the “tempo” for the show, alternating adagio and allegro: slow and fast. Note the fine work of the Paco Herrero craftsmen and women, who created the delicate wrap-around straps in the form of musical staff and notes. Truly a museum-worthy piece.
A young and charismatic figure on the Spanish fashion scene, Juan Vidal often uses Spanish footwear designers in his shows (to see his previous collaborations click here). The designers Spring-Summer 2016 collection titled “Hiroko” blends Japanese aesthetic and tropical palette. The result is quite exhilarating. The diamond-embellished black sandals to go with the exotic Japanese motives were created by the prominent Elda-based luxury shoe maker Pedro García.
The noble Agatha presented another life-affirming, color-strong collection. She is an inveterate risk-taker and her candy-colored designs go straight to the gut. Her recent adepts include Miley Cyrus – a notorious risk-taker of the new generation, who, like the grand dame of the Spanish design, never misses a punch. Agatha, it seems, is never out of step. If anything, she is always somewhat ahead of the curve. She is a universal designer: her shoes and accessories are designed in-house. And lastly, I decided to make an exception to my “collaboration” rule and introduce a “plus one” to my magnificent three: a relatively young Spanish design house The 2nd Skin and Co.
In this case, I have no idea who designed the shoes or whether they were designed in house. Oh well, let it remain their trade SECRET.
