Salamanca: The Round Up

Rounding up the Made in Spain shoe and accessories shopping in the upscale Salamanca district, there are a few more stores worth naming, which are known to me not through shopping guides or city maps ( I use these just for reference), but through actual people that run them. Some time ago I was in touch with Elena de Mingo, one of the executives of eMe Shoes(or M) shoe company. The company specializes in selling and promoting the Made in Spain brands. I featured eMe here, here, here and here. This company also has a very attractive in-house shoes and accessories line, designed and manufactured in Spain, of course. eMe has two stores in Salamanca, on the Jorge Juan and Don Ramón de la Cruz streets.

eMe Shoes, Don Ramón de la Cruz 46 (also Jorge Juan 22) – despite the stores being high-end in design and philosophy, you will find that eMe offers a lot of good deals on their shoes. Sometimes you can find deals under a 100 Euros, but this also includes their online distributor, a multi-brand online retailer miinto.

Pedro García, Jorge Juan 12 – a family firm, often featured on this blog (here, here, here and here), makes luxury shoes using a lot of innovative technology, while remaining a true Made in Spain company. The style is very cutting-edge and conceptual, reflecting the company’s love for innovation and the pushing of the envelope. Pedro García is one of the few Spanish shoe companies that has a solid foot-hold in the US high-end shoes market, being carried by such luxury retail giants as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Many an American celebrity has been spotted wearing Pedro García shoes. Also located on Jorge Juan 12 is Le Boho Shop, which carries bohemian style clothes and accessories. Their stock list includes the Spanish espadrille brand Mint & Rose.

Magrit Couture, Principe de Vergara 56, 1º 8 – the Principe de Vergara street runs perpendicular to the Ortega y Gasset. Magrit Couture studio is located to the north of the intersection. The Elda-based company, which has been around since 1929, specializes in made to order luxury women’s shoes. They also have a great ready-made line. Magrit shoes are well-known to the cream of Madrid’s society for its glamorous style, impeccable taste, and foot-friendly construction. Letizia, the Queen of Spain, is a customer.

The company prides itself on having created a collection of shoe molds, perfected over almost hundred years, that are designed to make the wearing of high-heels an enjoyable experience. I dream of owning a pair of Magrit shoes. The name is synonymous with the best Spanish shoe industry has to offer and the ultimate in Madrid chic.

Masscob, 2 Puigcerdà Street:

MasscobMadrid

Masscob clothing and accessories boutique in Salamanca, Madrid, Spain.

The luminous white and honey toned interior of the store provides a perfect backdrop for clothes and accessories by the Spanish fashion brand Masscob. The style is simple and serene, sometimes classic, sometimes folksy, with clean and flowing lines. High standard for quality means that prices are high, but prohibitively so, especially for an upscale area like Salamanca. Similar to Caramelo, Masscob is one of the places where you are likely to to stumble upon a piece that you simply cannot live without.

On that note, I am saying good-bye to Salamanca for now and moving on to the neighboring districts, real treasure troves of Made in Spain shoes and accessories. I have no doubt that I will have many occasions to add new great finds to the Salamanca shoe shopping experience.

I hope you enjoyed the first installment of Spanishoegallery‘s Shoe Shopping Itineraries series.

Happy exploring!

Cheers,

Ann
