It was Castañer‘s big birthday the other day – the iconic Spanish espadrille firm is 90 years old! I have professed my love for this brand countless times on this blog. These are the first Castañers that I ever featured on this blog, as part of the Spanishoegallery Blog‘s inaugural “Carmen” gallery:
This is my latest Castañer acquisition – the “Ann” espadrilles:
And this is my favorite Castañer bag that is with me anywhere I go:
I also love my “Amaya” felt-top espadrille wedges (also bought on YOOX):
Castañer espadrilles are the Bentley of espadrilles. Ninety years of experience is nothing to sneeze at! I’m not sure that they are the best cycling shoes, but they are great to walk in.
Castañer also makes great leather boots, like these suede beauties:
Or this chic tweed ankle boot:
One of the most popular Castañer models these days is the “Carina” espadrille wedge. The brand is currently running a draw – every day until April 16, 2017, you can win a pair of “Carinas” by going to Castañer’s FB page or through their website.
Please note that the promotion only applies to residents of Europe and the United States. Canada is not included. I’m pretty miffed about that, actually. If you are in Canada or you don’t manage to win a “Carina” espadrille, here is a very attractive version of it currently being sold on FarFetch (for details and to buy click on the picture):
Happy birthday, Castañer! Thank you for being you – one of the best Made in Spain brands out there. It’s now time to start getting ready for the centennial anniversary!
