Continuing with the boot topic in the run-up to the holidays, here is a tremendous pair of winter boots by Jose Saenz, an Arnedo, La Rioja, company. The “Paula” boot is made of quality leather and features textile fabric lining, side zipper closure, and flexible rubber sole.

I’ve been watching Jose Saenz for a while. The impression I am getting is that this brand has a confident, sporty and technology-oriented personality. When I say “technology”, I mean the newest in shoe making technology. “Paula” boots are part of a whole series of winter shoes that are made using JS Tex Water Resist, an in-house developed water-proof system.
For some time I have been looking for a pair of Spanish boots that I could wear in the cold, snow and/or slush of the Canadian winter – boots that could withstand intense usage, be water proof, and look good in the process and this “Paula” model by Jose Saenz may very well be it.
The thing about tough winter boots is that, as a a rule, they are not made of leather, but of technical materials. Consequently, boots of this sort are not usually the most stylish. The “Paula” boot is different: it has an appealing shape and it is made of good quality natural leather with patent leather detailing in the front. I also really like the mid-calf height of the boot. This ensures maximum protection from the elements without adding too much bulk and it’s a good look with skinny jeans, besides. The “Paula” boot also features a flexible anti-slip rubber sole and a 6.5 cm (2.6”) wedge with a 2 cm (0.8”) platform.
All in all, I think that these boots are great, especially for people who lead an active life style in the winter. I’m itching to test its water-resisting technology! By the way, Spain, especially in its northern and northwest regions, is very familiar with harsh winters:
