These stunning gold leather sandals with a 13.5 cm (5.3”) high wedge and a 4.5 cm (1.8”) high front platform are by Paloma Barceló. I’m a huge fan of this brand and have featured it on this blog repeatedly. These sandals are from their Spring-Summer 2014 collection, which I covered here. They are currently sold through YOOX.COM in size 10. The leather is especially beautiful in its rich golden dye, tied into a braid in the front. This braid “emits” the golden “rays” (rounded leather straps) to the sides, while shooting back two single leather-string arches that are joined together at the top by the buckled ankle strap.
Paloma Barceló shoes are like sculptures that can be admired from different angles. The thin golden inlays give a regular cork wedge a look of a tiered tower. It is an amazing, truly architectural effect.
Paloma Barceló is very popular in Italy, but it is a Made in Spain company. The fashion-savvy Italian consumers seem to like its daring, avant-garde creations. Not all models work for me, but this one has been robbing me of my sleep for a while now, so I thought that I’d give it the special place it deserves.
