Spain’s got a new king! Prince Felipe of Asturias became Felipe the VI of Spain on Thursday, June 19, 2014, after his father, King Juan Carlos of Spain, stepped down to make way for his son.
Not everyone in Spain is in love with the monarchy, but Felipe and his wife Queen Letizia are widely popular. They have two daughters, Leonor (8) and Sofia (7), which will make the question of succession interesting in a three or four dozen years time.
For now, congratulations to the new king and queen. Queen Letizia is a known lover of Spanish shoes, often spotted wearing Magrit, Pura López, Pretty Ballerinas and Mascaró, so go Reina Letizia!
