Red and black is a powerful combination much loved by artists and fashion designers. The clash between the hot red energy and cool black energy is provocative and exciting. This is also true for shoes, of course. The red and black combo is timeless, but it seems to be a particularly hot trend this fall.
The Art Company, a Spanish brand known for its metropolitan style footwear that comes in a dazzling array of colors, has a particularly attractive line up of red and black ankle boots to offer this season.
The Toronto
The Art Company makes footwear with an urban soul, drawing inspiration from iconic urban centers and urban landmarks around the world. This model drew my attention because it was inspired by Toronto, the city I live in. It was very nice to see Toronto included in a line up of famed urban centers alongside Bristol, Amsterdam, Memphis, and others.
The “Toronto” model features a thick toothy sole, which gives it a slightly fierce, rugged look. Toronto streets can be a challenging terrain in the winter, so the style is quite appropriate. The “Toronto” ankle boot is also lined with sheep skin and has a removable steam microfiber sole, so it’s perfectly toasty in the winter.
The “Toronto” boot also comes in a number of lace-up styles, including a mixed Chelsea and combat boot version, and a mid-calf fur-trimmed boot version. The common trait is the thick deeply ridged sole.
Other colors are also very attractive, especially the corn. As styles go, I’m partial to the traditional Chelsea version, but the mid-calf boot topped with a sheep skin cuff looks great too.
The Alfama
The “Alfama” ankle boot with a nice tubular heel is one of the brand’s top sellers this season. Not surprising – it has a pretty curvy profile and, of course, the black upper/red sole combo is extremely seductive. This model also comes in red, brown, corn, all black, and black with a purple sole.
The Bristol
This is my favorite ankle boot from The Art Company‘s current Fall-Winter collection. I love texture in shoes and this honeycomb patterned red mesh looks spectacular against the smooth black leather background. I call this one the “mixed media” boot, because it is like a wearable work of art.
As you can see, the Fall-Winter 2018-19 collection by the Quel, La Rioja based brand is very rich in styles and colors, including a line-up of stylish red and black boots. What I’ve shown you in this post is just a small part, so go ahead and take a look for yourself. The Art Company website delivers worldwide.
Happy fall trails!
